So far, Vietnam is the second largest country after Indonesia in South East Asia in terms of investment attractiveness for Australian businesses. Therefore, in recent years, trade turnover between Vietnam - Australia increased, in 2016, two-way turnover reached 5.26%.

Australia is eighth largest trading partner while Vietnam is  15th largest trading partner; Two-way trade between Vietnam and Australia has increased by 10% annually over the past 10 years, reaching over $ 5 billion in 2016. Australia has 378 investment projects in Vietnam with a total capital of more than $ 1.7 billion. , focusing on many sectors such as industry, construction, services, education, processing and fisheries. Vietnam currently has 17 direct investment projects in Australia with a total value of USD 137 million, mainly in the processing, manufacturing, mining and service industries. Australian business representatives said that in addition to improving the quality of goods, Vietnamese enterprises need to find good partners in Australia to penetrate into this market more effectively.
